What makes me laugh is when listening or reading the current bright ideas as they come out is realizing that most of us were sharing the same bright ideas but just never really brought them to anyone’s attention. We sometimes may get into this trap of thinking I am one person does anyone really care what my idea is. Sundance Vacations has shown that they care what we think and feel. As long as we keep talking about what we need to do our jobs effectively and what we think would help us surpass our goals for both ourselves and Sundance Vacations John and Tina are willing to listen. They can't make changes if they don't know we want those changes made. So come on everybody think hard and often about what would make this company spectacular and hopefully we will see some of those changes heading our way!! I always e-mail my ideas as they come to me. Some times they develop into something much larger than even I had imagined. For instance, I was thinking of having a "War Games" charity event for diabled veterans and it looks like it is coming together. Anyone that can give me any input or ideas on this matter is welcome to e-mail me at admin@tristatefinance.net, but the moral of the story is KEEP THINKING. Ideas as small as you may think they are, may indeed pay off!!! I don't have easy access to email addresses for all 600 employees in every division, so we started the newsletter with just manager and key employees. New enrollment is jumping as managers and employees are now sharing and forwarding Bright Ideas to their co-workers. Signing up is as easy as clicking a button embedded in the newsletter. But new enrollment is only half of the story. My inbox is overflowing with ideas from every division of the company. As they come in, I copy and paste them into a word document for later review. The document is 5 pages long as a result of the last issue. We're also changing the Sundance Vacations corporate culture. Some divisions look at their job functions in a vacuum. Bright Ideas blurs the lines between divisions because everyone is charged with growing and improving the company; not just executives. Mark's post above is a perfect example. I recently saw a nice computer kiosk at a Timeshare presentation I went to in December to better my knowledge of how much better our vacation plan is than timeshare. They have a computer Kiosk with a map of all areas they serve and pictures and profiles of places they offer. It was a touch-screen style machine, kind of like what you would see in a restaraunt when the server enters your order, only modified for vacation purposes. I feel this would not only benefit us on the sales end of things, but also save us some money on paper and the enviroment by not having the need to cut down more trees by not needing all those pesky brochures that keep getting stolen, misplaced or destroyes as time goes on. We should also set it up so our excess inventory has pictures by it, and finally make so our newest members can book there first trip in the office right after they finish purchasing it, and that may help reduce cancelations. Anyhow thats all for now. Thanks, Mark DiBenedetto (Rockaway, NJ Office) I think that we should try to go green in our comapny. I personally think the e-newsletter is a great idea. It gives employees the opportunity to voice their opinion, and share their ideas. Although, I haven't submitted any ideas yet, I have started brainstorming many different suggestions that I plan to address to Tina. In the mean time, maybe Candy can stuff me in her luggage and sneak me to Daytona Beach with her!!! I agree with Candy! I personally think the e-newsletter is a great idea. Sometimes employees may have great ideas but don't know how to present them or who to present them to. One tiny change or one small improvement can save the company a lot of money or help to generate more revenue. And, Amanda is correct...... you never know how you may be rewarded for a good idea. To use a phrase from a popular movie (Forest Gump), "Life is like a box of chocolates; you never know what you are gonna get". I was the lucky winner and I was extremely suprised that the reward was a relaxing 4 night trip to Daytona Beach. I would have been pleased with dinner at the ChopHouse, but this unexpected spring break is fabulous!! My advice to all is to keep brainstorming and never think that any idea is too small or not important enough. Also, don't stop at one idea. I submitted 4 ideas. You never know maybe if I submitted 3 more ideas I would be in Daytona for a whole week, one night for each idea!! Keep thinking and keep sharing those ideas, you never know how far your mind will take you! Mine is taking me all the way to Florida!! =) I think the e-newsletter is a great chance to have employees present their ideas directly to the owners of the company.
