Sundance Vacations Named as One of the Best Places to Work
Sundance Vacations was selected as one of the best places to work in Pennsylvania on December 2nd, 2008. This was the second year the company participated in the program. Sundance Vacations placed twelfth in a statewide poll for the top 50 large companies. Competition was fierce as employees anxiously awaited the ranking alongside Sundance Vacations founders John and Tina Dowd. Nearly 45,000 Pennsylvania employees (a 100% increase over last year) filled out the survey. The combined scores determined the top company’s final ranking. The ceremony was held at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center in Hershey, PA. The attendance at the dinner topped over 1,100 people from 100 companies throughout Pennsylvania. “There are many companies who are disappointed, because they did not make the list,” said Acting Secretary, Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, John Blake. Sundance Vacations is pleased with their ranking, but let’s keep striving for the number one spot!!
What do you think would improve our ranking for next year? We would love to hear some of your suggestions!

Sundance already does so many great things for the employees such as: fabulous company picnics for the whole family, fantastic Christmas parties, outstanding award ceremonies, exciting company events both inside and outside of the office, generous employee appreciation days, and a number of benefits and bonuses. The only thing I can think of to help improve the ranking for next year is to have a “fun wall”. We can hang pictures from all these fun and exciting events near the time clock so every day employees can be reminded about all the additional perks they receive while working for such a great company. I know it always makes me smile to see the picture of everyone hanging out at Marvin’s desk , eating ice cream sundaes while he was on vacation!
This is truly a wonderful place to work. I can’t wait for our next Christmas party!! The company spares no expence to show its apprecation to its employees. Its nice to be affiliated with such a great bunch of people!! Thanks Sundance
Ditto!
I’m comimng up on my two year anniversary and can honestly say that it’s been two of the best years in my professional life. Sure work is involved, that’s wht it’s called work. But a generous dosage of fun is mixed in as well. I work with some of the best employees in the world. We work and play as one big close family. I wouldn’t trade my experience with Sundance for the world. It’s no surprise to me that Sundance was named as “One of the Best Places to Work.” It truly is!!
I think placing 12 out of 50 large companies throughout the state of Pennsylvania is great! Especially considering how many companies entered and didn’t even make the list. I do hope that the more we participate in the program the better we will rank each year. And the more suggestions we receive will also help a great deal! WAY TO GO SUNDANCE VACATIONS! Let’s keep shooting for the number one spot!
Honestly, while trying to think of things I would change to improve the company I am hard pressed to find much. The only thing I would suggest would be some paid sick time for full-time employees. There is nothing more aggravating than coming to work with strep throat and then watching your attendance drop the following week because you shared it with your marketers.
Other than that I really can’t think of anything I would change. This company has created a fun, exciting, and very satisfying work place and I am proud of my accomplishments within this company, and grateful for the opportunities provided to me.
Keep up the good work and next year we’ll be top 5!
Great job Sundance!!!
its tough to think of what would help us a get a better rank. i think if the judges worked for the company for even a short amount of time they would see why we all love it so much, and they would have to rank us number 1 by default
Sundance should be very proud of themselves. As my grandma would say “not to shabby”. Placing 12th is amazing! With Sundance being such a great company to work for it will not be long before they are #1 in the state!
Sundance is a wonderful company to work for! I have worked with some of the finest people in the industry,at sundance, and have learned a great deal over the last 3 years. John and Tina Dowd have created an amazing enviroment for the employees to prosper and thrive. My daughter started with the company about 4 months ago and she loves it too!
12th out of 50 is great! Good job Sundance!
I also think paid sick days as well as pay when on Maternity Leave just a suggestion it would be something really great for mothers and mothers to be.
As the old saying goes,” the grass is not always greener on the other side” I have seen so many people leave only to come back again. That must say something about the company we work for. I am coming up on 15 yrs with Sundance in February and I can honestly say that I know what I have and what I would be giving up. I have two young children, ages 4yrs and 9yrs and could not imagine not being able to have the week off between Christmas and New Years. That alone is a huge incentive but that is just a very small reason why all the employees agree that this is “The Best Place To Work” I believe that the reason for the success is because we work for two people who also have small children and understand the needs of the average person. They listen to the concerns of their employees and do their very best to help with each one.
It is not a big surprise that we were one of the companies picked for the award but it is a surprise that we finished 12th. I think it should have been 1st and will be next year.
Congratulations Sundance!!
I have to say that it isn’t a wonder as to why the company got this award. It really is a wonderful place to work. It’s nice to work in a fun enviroment and to know that the owners of the company actually care about the employees.
Great work to all of the Sundance employees that are making this such a great place to work. Keep it up and good luck next year!
Next year # 1
